How do I search the categories?

Descriptive keywords should be searched for within our google powered search box on the BOOK SEARCH page.
It is necessary when using this to then use the "Find within page" function of your browser menu, to find the searched for item within the catalogue page. You can also use this method for keyword or author or title search.
Also try the link to Bibliophile for our rare books database, where we list a different database of rare and/or collectible items.

How do I place an order?

Email us the items title and product code "[#000] or [PB000]" as well as your address, including which country we will be shipping to. It may be easier to cut and paste the listing into an email, e.g.

Let us know the method you wish to pay by, so we can reply as to availability and total cost with shipping etc.
We prefer cash or a local bank deposit. For buyers outside New Zealand, we process payment via credit/debit card through PaypPal.com.
It helps if you supply your address, including which country we will be shipping to, so we can give a correct shipping cost.

What do the Condition statements mean?

Unless stated as new all books are used second hand copies and as such will show some wear or ageing.
FN = Fine, minimal signs of careful use.
VG = Very good used copy may have neat inscription or bookseller label or stamp, minor wear and/or foxing, minor fading to cover or dustwrapper, dustwrapper may have short tears or chipping.
G = Good but well used with wear and minor soiling, DW will have tears, chipping and maybe some loss. May have former owner inscriptions or book shop or library rubber stamps. Age foxing ( browning to paper ) likely.
Poor = Poor/ fair, rough copy suitable for reading or reference only, will be complete and readable unless noted as worse, but will be an unsightly copy.
Any major faults will be cited such as bookplates, tears or staining to text and any extra information pertaining to content. Comics follow general comic book gradings but are not graded by a comic expert so be advised if you want MINT copies to ask for more information upon ordering.
The first grade refers to the Book condition, the second to the Dustwrapper condition. If there is no second grade then the book has no dustwrapper.

Shipping Prices

After the book price there will be a code such as A/A or C/B etc. this refers to the Local (New Zealand National) / International shipping rate as found on the Payment and Shipping page. Within New Zealand we can ship multiple items for one charge. For overseas there is a per parcel charge based on the packaged weight as estimated in our shipping rates. Orders through our Biblio.com listings have shipping included in the check out procedure, but a direct order with us may sometimes enable a cheaper shipping charge, especially if ordering multiple titles.

Availability and Pricing.

All items are proffered for sale at Fortuna Books discretion as to availability and current pricing. If items are showing incorrectly regarding availability, condition or pricing, then Fortuna Books reserves the right to withdraw items from sale, or to adjust pricing and condition status prior to any sale being finalised. As we have had to deal with a lot of seismic activity and subsequent uncertainties, we cannot guarantee our complete inventory is as shows on the website or database, and always check actual physical inventory in hand before finalising a transaction.

Refunds and Returns Policy

Books received which are markedly different from the description, or damaged in transit, may be returned within 7 days locally or 30 days internationally for a full refund of the book cost, less shipping, after prior agreement with the seller.
If items have not arrived within 10 days of dispatch please let us know so we can begin investigations with our postal provider. Please make no returns until we have agreed on a remedy to the situation.
